A woman stands centered between a tortoise and a hare, her posture steady as opposing expectations pull at her from both sides. Together, they frame the conflicting standards placed on women, to be driven yet gentle, decisive yet endlessly patient. The sculpture speaks to the impossible balance of being asked to lead without being too forceful, to care without being consumed, to feel deeply without being labeled overly emotional. Standing between speed and stillness, the figure holds space to redefine strength on her own terms.
The sculpture is anchored by a hand-finished, oil-rubbed walnut base with a custom copper stand, which features a small copper nameplate stamped with K Perrault and the year.
